Why Would I Need the Church and Why Would the Church Need Me?

Have you asked this question before?

WHY WOULD I NEED THE CHURCH?

At Connect Church, we want to help people find and follow Jesus. We are not perfect, and don’t claim to be; but Jesus is. And we want to point people to Him.

If you are not currently following Jesus, or perhaps you've never followed Jesus, we want to help you with that. If you have any questions about your faith or having a relationship with Jesus, we're here for you. As a church, we want to walk alongside each other and grow as we learn about Christ from one another.

WHY WOULD THE CHURCH NEED ME?

The Bible says that the Church is made up of a body. Each of us have different roles & gifts given to us. So simply put, without you- we're not complete. And no matter what your journey looks like or will look like, you belong!

HERE ARE A FEW CONNECTIONS WE DON'T WANT YOU TO MISS

KNOWING JESUS

Regardless of whom you talk to about Jesus you always hear the same things…”He was a good man”, “a righteous man”, “a person worth following”, “a life worth modeling”, “a prophet”, “a man of God”. Everyone seems to agree with these statements about Jesus.

However, did you know that Jesus did not give us the opportunity to just call Him a good person, or something of that sort? Jesus claimed to be God.

Because Jesus claimed to be God we have to decide what to do with Him. He can no longer be a good teacher, person, prophet, or anything. He now has to be one of 3 things. He either has to be a liar, a lunatic, or Lord.

You may struggle with who God is. Many do. However, before you try to have all the answers about God, perhaps you need to answer the question, “Who is Jesus?”

How you answer the question “Who is Jesus” changes everything. We'd love to walk with you as you search for the answer to this question. We have answers because we have also had questions. And we believe Jesus to be God!

WORSHIP

Worship is one of those words that many people think is just a ‘churchy’ word. But the truth is that we all worship. Everyone has something they focus on, respond to and celebrate. The important thing is not to worship, but to worship the right object, the right person. We don’t intend to worship the wrong things, however, we slip. Sometimes we are unaware that this happens... but worship must be intentional. This is why we meet weekly to be reminded and to remind others that God is the only object of worship. Worship purifies our hearts, priorities, relationships, finances, and worldviews.

TRUTH

Truth, the Word of God (Bible), is without error and is living. One of the most powerful habits you can develop is to devote yourself to studying the Bible. As you put scripture in your mind, it will come to your mind when you need it most.

Here are just a few of the benefits of Scripture:

It helps us make decisions.

Psa 119:105 says, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."

Long and short… There and here! Scripture creates a situation where God can use scripture that we have processed and worked through to light our path when we need a light. However, if we've only read it and not applied it to our lives, we may not use it correctly.

It strengthens me when I am weak.

Psa 119:41-43 says, "Let your steadfast love come to me, O Lord, your salvation according to your promise; then shall I have an answer for him who taunts me, for I trust in your word. And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, for my hope is in your rules."

It comforts me when I am sad.

Jer 15:16 says, "Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O Lord, God of hosts."

A Bible on the shelf does no good at all. It has all the answers for life, but if you don't put it into your mind, so it stays with you, it doesn't do you nearly as much good. So the more you can get the Bible into your mind, the stronger you're going to be.

EACH OTHER

We believe life is better when you live in community. The connections we receive from each other are valuable to grow and learn what God is teaching us.

And worshipers need other worshipers. That's why we gather together on Sundays and throughout our week. It's a beautiful picture of a body of believers worshiping the one true God. Everyone is at different levels, but we need everyone to bring our greatest Worship.

When you connected with and decided to follow Jesus, you became a part of a movement. This movement, Christianity, cannot be lived privately. That is why the local church exists. The church (the people) is one of God’s greatest gifts that He gave to His followers.

Each week we:

Connect to each other.

Connect with and worship God.

Connect with His Word.

Connect with His plan for our lives, and learn how to live out His priorities.
