Death Died When Christ Rose

Death In His Grave / Audrey Assad

Whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this? (John 11:26)

When Jesus died on the cross, He conquered sin. But when He rose again from the dead, He defeated death.  Death is not a subject we usually want to discuss. But when you get down to it that is what Easter is all about. Easter is about the death's death because Jesus came to conquer death, and conquer it HE DID.  Easter is a day that marks the death of death. Death died when Christ rose. But we still die. How can we say that death died? Because death is not our end! Only our beginning. Yes, our bodies go into the ground, but the spirit lives on... forever. The Bible says that one day our bodies will be resurrected and reunited with our spirit.  This is the hope of Easter. Death is not the end of the road; it is only a bend in the road. It is a phase we go through. When Jesus died and rose, He rendered death powerless.

Father, thank you for sending Your Son to not only take our punishment but to defeat our punishment altogether so that we can be reunited with You!

Death is not the end of the road.  That new road is our final destination with Jesus! What roads are you taking? Are they taking you towards Jesus, or are they taking you away from him?

Memory Verse

Romans 5:8

“but God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
